Announcing an agreement to be acquired by VerticalScope

Paul Lee · Nov 10, 2021

I’m happy to share that we’ve entered into an agreement to be acquired by VerticalScope Holdings, Inc. (TSX: FORA). VerticalScope is a longtime customer and well-known industry leader who is committed to investing in and advancing forums. Our team is excited to work with VerticalScope even more closely to develop solutions that help people find the best forum content.

For our customers, this won’t change how you access your Threadloom account, manage your Threadloom services, or (for customers on paid plans) how you are billed. Your account stays the same and our services continue to operate as before. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop us a line.

I joined my first online community after my mom brought home a 386 and a 2400-baud modem from work. Since then, I’ve been drawn to communities that share a common desire to help each other. Threadloom is meaningful to me as a way to bring back mutual respect and personal dignity to the Internet. I’m excited to work with an amazing team that practices this daily in person.

Threadloom Search speed upgrade

Greg Hecht · Sep 16, 2019

Last month, we completed an infrastructure upgrade to Threadloom Search, which now searches over billions of forum posts.  Search speeds are significantly faster, especially for larger forums. We’re excited to help visitors find your best content even faster.

As before, Threadloom Search continues to return all relevant results in your forum (not just the top 500 results), and includes spell correction and image search.  Because Threadloom is cloud-based, you can offload resource-intensive search queries from your servers and focus on growing your community instead of your server budget.

Threadloom Search is available for vBulletin and XenForo, and free for forums with up to 10 million posts.  No credit card is required. You can sign up and download the plug-in here.

My favorite projects are the ones that challenge the status quo and require creativity to think about solving problems in new ways. And I love working with thoughtful, caring people who constantly consider how to build the best product for our users. At Threadloom, I’ve got both! I’m excited by our team and mission to strengthen online communities and help people find others who share their interests.

One billion posts later, Threadloom Search is free for forums with up to 10 million posts

Evan Caulley · Mar 20, 2019

Two years ago, we launched Threadloom Search to bring enterprise-grade search to forums.  Threadloom Search returns every post for a query, and includes spell correction, image search, and blog search.  And because it is cloud-based, Threadloom Search helps forums save server resources by offloading intensive search queries.

My earliest online forum experience was a forum for a book series that I read as a teenager. These days, I love to pick up new hobbies and skills, so I’m constantly on forums to learn. One of my favorite parts of working at Threadloom has been getting to know the forum owners, admins, and mods that are responsible for cultivating these amazing communities, and learning how they do what they do.

Threadloom Newsletter now includes 25,000 free emails per month

Chris Dildy · Mar 20, 2019

When we first designed Threadloom Newsletter, our strongest supporters were our early Search customers.  Email newsletters were one of their most important traffic drivers. However, they were frustrated with having to piece together tools and data.  Their feedback helped us build the first end-to-end email newsletter service for forums. Combined with our algorithms, Threadloom Newsletter drove 50-90% higher click rates than traditional email newsletters.

Over the next year, more than 1,000 forums joined those early supporters as Newsletter customers; including Internet Brands and VerticalScope.  However, we recognize that not all forums generate revenue. Which is why I’m pleased to announce our first free plan for Threadloom Newsletter.  Effective this week, all customers get 25,000 emails per month for free. Every 1,000 emails above that cost just 20 cents.

Forums were the first social network I was exposed to. I could connect with knowledgeable people across the globe. I eventually started building my own communities in areas that were interesting to me. After 16 years of sales and acquisition, I was responsible for over 100 active communities. The most challenging task of managing a community is to see it grow through curation of content. This is why I am thrilled to work as a part of the Threadloom team, to help admins in different verticals bring their best content to the forefront of the Internet.

Threadloom Newsletter now includes support for custom frequency scheduling

Alyssa Caulley · Mar 20, 2019

Starting today, all Threadloom Newsletter customers can schedule their Newsletter issues to go out daily, weekly, or any frequency in between.

A number of customers have been testing this new feature over the past month with strong results.  Ford Raptor Forum, for instance, switched from weekly to daily newsletters several weeks ago, and is now realizing 7x the increased traffic (view case study).
