Two years ago, we launched Threadloom Search to bring enterprise-grade search to forums. Threadloom Search returns every post for a query, and includes spell correction, image search, and blog search. And because it is cloud-based, Threadloom Search helps forums save server resources by offloading intensive search queries.
Our goal was to make it easier to find the best content in a forum. Our first customer, Baby Bargains, saw bounce rates fall and session times increase, as a result (view the case study). Today, Threadloom Search’s aggregate click-through rate is 40%, five times higher than the industry average.
Since launching, we’ve indexed over 1 billion posts. As a result of our increased scale, we’re excited to make Search accessible to even more forums. Up until now, Search has been free for forums with up to 1 million posts. Effective this week, Search is now free for forums with up to 10 million posts. Pricing above 10 million posts remains the same as before – $10 per 5 million posts – but now includes a full credit for your first 10 million posts. More details are available in this Help Center article.
We know that forums cover myriad topics and come in all sizes. Our hope is that this change will enable even more forums to deliver best-in-class search to their staff and visitors. We believe the best content on the Internet lives in forums, and we’re excited to make that easier for more people to discover.
My earliest online forum experience was a forum for a book series that I read as a teenager. These days, I love to pick up new hobbies and skills, so I’m constantly on forums to learn. One of my favorite parts of working at Threadloom has been getting to know the forum owners, admins, and mods that are responsible for cultivating these amazing communities, and learning how they do what they do.
