For a while now, our customers have been able to get general site search stats via Google Analytics. Today, I’m pleased to announce that Threadloom Search Reports are available to all customers.
In addition to giving you easier access to the number of searches and top search queries on your forum, these reports complement Google Analytics by also offering 3 unique features.
First, you can now access a heatmap that shows the number of searches by hour, for a given day of the week. If you are searching across a date range that is longer than a week, it will show you the cumulative number of searches for that day of the week across the entire period, e.g., all Wednesdays the past month.
Second, you can finally track site searches submitted as POST requests (where part of the request is in the message body as opposed to being entirely in the URL, as is often the case with vBulletin forums). Google Analytics can’t track these types of site searches.
Finally, you will soon be able to easily see the number of search results per search query. This will help you better understand how good of a job your forum is doing, delivering the content that visitors are most looking for.
(Note: To learn more about this and other search topics, we invite you to sign up for our free 1-month email course on forum search.)
Have a question or suggestion? Let us know what you think (or better yet, if you’re in the Bay Area, stop by our office in Redwood City). We spend all day thinking about forum search and love talking with forum owners about this stuff.

My favorite projects are the ones that challenge the status quo and require creativity to think about solving problems in new ways. And I love working with thoughtful, caring people who constantly consider how to build the best product for our users. At Threadloom, I’ve got both! I’m excited by our team and mission to strengthen online communities and help people find others who share their interests.
